Call to action

I volunteered with my volleyball team for call to action day.
It was really fun to go out and take the day off of school and volunteering with my team to clean up waterdog park. There were dogs there that we were able to play with and we picked up a ton of weeds and walked a huge gorgeous trail around the lake.

It was nice to give back to our community.

In class we discussed the founders and sisters of notre dame and how they were similar as well as different.

The two founders of notre dame de namur were- Julie Billiart and who i call "Fran".

These two women grew up totally different. Fran was raised in a wealthy family. She was well educated and had many opportunities.
JB was raised in an average household. She did not has as much opportunity as Fran.
Fran felt guilty for some of the things she was able to do. She chose to live a life without the riches and pursue her religion and helping others.
JB had a bone disease from all the hard labor she did and people had to see her to seek help. She was bed ridden.
Both women were strong and independent and grew up different but ultimately wanted the same thing.

In this chapter I read about the Enlightenment. I read about how it contributed to the Atlantic Revolution.

People believed that the enlightenment was telling them that they have to FIGHT for all the things like natural rights and liberty and equality FOR ALL.

People had the right to fight for their freedom. And they were realizing it was okay to challenge authority.
The French revolution was a lot more violent than the American revolution. The American revolution was 13 colonies and their hectic relationship with great Britain.

Slaves began to fight for their equality as well because they no longer wanted to be ruled by france.

In this chapter I read about European societies and culture.

I read about the Protestant reformation and how it changed the society of European society. The religious “legitimacy” was accepted into the middle class. It gave females a chance to have female education and literacy.

I also read that religious difference was beginning to lead to violence and to war but eventually the difference in religions began to “co-exist”.  People began to have religious “individualism” and they were also encouraged to read and interpret themselves. They weren’t forced  to go to church to seek salvation.

Then I began to read about Christianity motivated European imperial expansion. Portuguese and Spanish completed the “liberation” of their countries from Muslim control. Settlers and traders brought their religion nd faith with them.

It made me happy that people got the chance to finally have their own views of religion and faith.

In this chapter I read about how the scientific revolution affected Europe rather than in china.

Europeans developed a civilization that favored the scientific revolution. In Europe they has scientists who would receive an education. In the Islamic world science was not taught because it was said to be confusing and could cause uncertainty.
Europeans were skeptical about making and establishing certain views.

It was considered to be revolutionary because people used to think the universe was “divine” and “human-centered”. The scientific revolution was crazy and revolutionary because it changed people’s understanding of the universe.

The main discovery was that the Sun was in the middle of all things.

In this chapter I read about how different ways the Atlantic slave trades transformed African societies.

I read that it slowed the growth in Africa. It also caused :political disruption. Ghana was insecure and had slave raids. Race was super transformed into native americans or Spanish.

Sugar was a really big cause of the Atlantic slave trade.

Europeans established sugar plantations. There was danger in the work conditions. Native americans were dying from European diseases.

In this chapter, I read about what happened throughout the years.
I read about how Europeans would trade goods to become involved in Asian commerce. They had recovered from the black death and expanded their empire. In expanding their empire, they spread Christianity and they had a lot of competition between other empires.

I read that they did not “effect” Asian trade and they let the Asians keep control. I also read about the north American and Siberian fur trade. They were the same in they because they both had animal population declination.

I also read about how the fur trade affected societies in North America. They got stronger weapons and also gained new diseases.

In this section, I read about the sugar and how it affected the world.
I also read about the making of the Russian empire.
The Russians had a lot of fear of the Mongols so they wanted their own land. They had a lot of fur because they had “fur” bearing animals.
Fur trade motivated them to grow their empire.

They conquered people. They made the people that they conquered pay taxes. They also pressured them to convert to Christianity. The native people lost their land and theur “way of life” when they became conquered.
